New Bare Minerals - Complexion Rescue

Probably my favorite part about working for Ulta is going to training's! When a brand comes out with a new product launch we go to these training's to learn about the products and ways to sell them! A lot of the time we are also given the products as gratis to try for ourselves!Todays training was for Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream! Unfortunately we weren't able to receive this today (but it is on its way and I will be testing it out and writing a review on my thoughts asap), but we were able to play with the product, see it in action and learn some key points!

I will say that I am not a Bare Minerals girl! Don't get me wrong, I do think that Bare Minerals has stand out products; I love their concealers, lipsticks, and their 5 in 1 cream shadows! But when it comes to foundation and coverage I'm just not a natural girl! I like a full coverage, beat face! Always! But after learning about the product I am intrigued to try it out! The main point to take away from Complexion Rescue is it's going to hydrate and replenish the skin, which is perfect for this time of year because even us oily girls are getting dry these days! It is proven to increase hydration and also improve skin texture! Now, I really don't have texture issues when it comes to my skin but I am curious to see if I feel a noticeable difference! This product is also free of oils, parabens, fragrance, is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and contains a mineral SPF of 30 so it should be great for those with sensitive skin! Me, myself, I am not sensitive at all! I can really put anything on my face and be fine! And lastly it has a light to medium coverage and is avaiable in 10 shades, which isn't a lot for Bare Minerals considering all of their foundations come in 20 shades!

We were also able to swatch and see a live demo of this product which is always beneficial because then you can really get a feel of how the product performs! Swatched on the hand this definitely felt like a gel cream formula, very light and blendable! It also had a slight cooling sensation which is supposed to be calming to the skin! For the demo, they applied it in 2 different ways; one side with the fingers and the other with the new Smoothing Face brush which will also be featured in this launch! The Smoothing Face Brush is a domed shaped duo fiber stippling brush! I think I'm most excited about the brush! I just think that the domed shape of the brush will be great for more flawless blending for lighter foundations as opposed to traditional flat top stippling brushes! I personally don't believe in putting on foundation with your fingers! It just doesn't make sense to me, and honestly the product didn't look as nice using the fingers! It looked like it was just sitting on top of the skin! With the brush, the product blended in seamlessly and the finish gave a very natural skin-like finish! Natural but not a "I literally have nothing on my face!" natural! I was also impressed by how nicely buildable it was! Still natural, just with a more flawless, radiant naturalness (if that's even a word!lol)! They even demoed using the product as a cream contour! Again, very natural, seamless, no obvious lines, and blended very nicely!

Other points made about Complexion Rescue were that you could use it underneath your current foundation to give you a little boost of hydration and coverage and that you could also use it as a moisturizer! I think that this would look great under a light to medium coverage foundation but I never recommend using makeup as moisturizer! Makeup does not substitute skincare, so you should always moisturize before applying makeup!

I hope you enjoyed reading about what I learned today and I hope it helped you decide whether or not you would try this product! Complexion Rescue will be available in store and online by the end of this month! I am patiently waiting to recieve mine and I will keep you updated with a full, in depth review after I've played with it, so stay on the lookout for that in a future post!

Winter Obsession! Nars Oasis Blush!

So now that you know a little about bit about me I figured we could move on the the fun stuff! The makeup stuff! And today I wanted to tell you guys about the blush that I have been obsessing over the last couple months! After lipsticks I'd say what I have most of is blush and the Nars blush in Oasis has been my ride-or-die lately! I purchased this blush back in September and I seriously have not stopped wearing it since! Its sort of a muted mauvey blush with gold reflects in it! It's just the perfect blush! By itself or as a topper, it just gives the perfect warm mauvey glow to the skin! I personally think it would look amazing on all skin tones as well because it's not too warm or mauvey for lighter skin tones, and for darker skin tones it will just give an over all warmth to the cheeks! I seriously cant get enough of it and I honestly don't know why more people don't talk about it more! I just love it and I think its amazing and I think everyone should definitely have this blush in their collection!

Get to Know Me!

11 Facts About Me

Yes, 11 facts because I like random numbers! Who says you have to have an even number of things to say about yourself!lol. Anyways, here's a little bit about me! Hope you enjoy! :)

1. My name is Vanessa! - Hey girl hey!!hahaha

2. I'm 27 years old! - Although I look like I'm 20! The youngest I ever got was 18! I was like "What? Seriously?" But I guess it's never a bad thing to look younger!

3. I work at Ulta!- And I absolutely LOVE my job! I love all the people I work with, the atmosphere, and being surrounded by makeup all day! Although it is very hard not spending my entire paycheck there!

4. I am also a makeup artist! - Duh!lol. Like I said in my previous post I've only been professionally doing makeup for a little over 2 years! I do mostly weddings and makeup for fitness competitors (which is so fun to do), but I would love to branch out and do more for photography and print.

5. I am from Philadelphia- East coast representin! :)

6. Makeup wise I am a lipstick whore! - They are just the easiest to buy and there are so many colors and formulas from drugstore to high-end! And if you're like me you know that no 2 colors are the same! Even if they look similar, they are always slightly different! Am I right?

7. I am mixed half Black and half Italian - My mother is Italian! I even took 4 years of Italian in school! Do you think I remember any of it? Nope! That's so horrible isn't it?

8. I have 7 tattoos and 5 piercings! - I wont get into specifics about what and where they are because I plan to do a post on that in the future! But as you can tell by the picture above, I obviously have a Monroe piercing and a tattoo on my collar bone, but that's all you get for now! (I'm such a tease aren't I?!) And I most definitely want to get more!

9. I have a coffee addiction! - It really is a problem! I've already had about a pot and a half and the day isn't even half way over yet! I've also never had an energy drink in my life! I don't believe in energy drinks, I believe in coffee! I like to think of it as natural energy!

10. I love movies! - All movies! My favorites are horrors and comedies! Totally opposite ends of the spectrum, I know, but I like to be scared sometimes and I LOVE laughing! I'm not sure what my favorite scary movie is but I know my favorite comedy is 40 Year Old Virgin! I laugh every time! Every Time!

11. My astrological sign is a Cancer!- Yes! That's right! I am an emotional wreck!haha. But seriously, I really am text book definition of one!

Well that's it for now! I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me! See you later and remember...

Hello Naughty Girls!!!

Welcome to my makeup blog! I know social media is flooded with these pages and makeup artists trying to get their names out there, it seems like everyone has one nowadays, but I wanted to make this blog for me, and for you, because I love makeup! Makeup is the one thing that gets me excited, even giddy sometimes! I know I don't have the most money to buy the newest, hottest products (although I wish that I did), I don't have the biggest and most coveted makeup collection, and I'm not the most experienced makeup artist (I've only been doing this professionally for a little over 2 years now), but I do know that I love what I do! I love that I am constantly learning about new products, artists, and techniques, and I love sharing what I learn with other people! I believe that makeup is much so more than making a pretty face! Makeup is truly transformative! I believe it can change peoples lives! And I know that might sound corny, and you may be thinking "What? Its just makeup!", but I know that it has changed my life! And just seeing the look of confidence on a woman's face and just knowing that they feel good about themselves is what it's all about to me! So again, welcome to my blog and welcome to my makeup journey! I hope that you learn from me just as I am learning from others, and I hope to make you just as excited about makeup as I am! Thank you so much and remember...
Stay Naughty! ;)
