Complexion Rescue Review!

So I am finally here with my review on the new Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and unfortunately I am not a fan.

Color Selection
So the Complexion Rescue line has 10 shades which is half of what all of their other Bare Minerals lines carry. My "shade" is the color Spice. Now I put that in quotations because for me Spice was still a little too light for me. A little too light to where it made me look grey, but I couldn't get the next shade up because it was just a little too dark. If they had a color that was in between it would have been perfect.

Wear
Because my "shade" was to light and made me look grey I had to wear it with a foundation over top of it. I used my Covergirl 3 in 1 which is a matte finish and it made it look way too dewy. Now I have oily skin and I don't mind being dewy, I love drowning my skin in oils and serums and moisturizers, but there is a difference between dewy and looking like I just smeared bacon all over my face. Even setting it with a powder didn't help because about an hour later my oils were coming through. I couldn't wait to get it off of my face.

The Smoothing Face Brush
The brush I actually really like. It's a rounded duo fiber stippling brush which I've never really seen anyone really do before. Most stippling brushes have a flat top but I found that the round top was alot more comfortable. I now use it for my regular foundation and I've really been enjoying it.

Final Thoughts

For me, this product just didn't work for me. I don't feel like they have a wide enough shade range, especially for us darker women (story of my life) and my skin is just too oily. If you have extremely dry/dry skin you would probably love it, maybe even normal skin but if you have oily skin take my word and just stay away from this product.

Confidence Tip Tuesday! - Surround Yourself With Positivity!

I know it's hard to stay positive in hard times and negative thoughts can be overwhelming sometimes, so it's good to have reminders around you to help stay positive and keep the negative voices in your head quiet. So I made a positivity wall for myself. Just little quotes and sayings to help keep me focused and motivated. Things to remind myself to keep going even when I feel like I can't!

Another way to surround yourself with positivity is to surround yourself with positive people that you can talk to and trust. I have a friend (more like a sister) who lives all the way in Florida, but even though she's so far away and I can't talk to her all the time she's really been such a huge motivator and comforter. I know I can tell her anything and I know she'll give be truthful, understanding, and keep my head straight.

So just remember to try to find positivity around you. And if you can't then make it for youself.

January Favorites!

Not too much this month but here's what I've absolutely been loving!

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette

Been obsessed with this since I bought it in late december. I use it every day and I'm absolutely obsessed with the color Quarts! You can see I've already made a pretty good dent in it. It's perfect for just an everyday eye look.

Venus - Naked Basics Palette

This color has quickly become my favorite inner corner highlight shade. It just opens up the eye and makes you look awake. I get complimented every time I wear it and I love it.

Benefits Puff Off

This stuff is seriously a miracle worker. If you've had a rough night or your eyes are just looking tired and puffy, apply this and no joke 20 minutes later your eyes look 1,000 times more rested.

Laura Gellar Baked Body Frosting in Tahitian Glow

I recently rotated this into my daily makeup routine not thinking I would really like it but I've been loving it as a highlight! I usually pair it with a little bit of MAC's Gold Deposit on top and together they make the most beautiful glowy finish.

NYX Mahogany Lip Liner and Milani Plumrose Lipstick

I cannot get enough of this lip combo. It makes the perfect mauvey lip. This is my go to for days that I don't know what lippie to wear.

OPI My Private Jet
Morgan Taylor Who's That Girl

Been loving this polish combo this month. I just love glitter! My Private Jet already has a really cool gray and purple duo chrome glitter in it and Who's That Girl just amps up the glitter factor.

January 2015 Empties!

Welcome Back Naughty Girls!

Isn't it crazy how it is already the end of January. I'm sure that's what everyone's saying but it seriously just blows my mind. Anyways, so I really wanted to do an empties post because although it is weird to save your trash I like the idea of going through what I've used up and letting you know what I think about them. Did I like them? Did I hate them? Would I repurchase? So lets get right into it.

Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel

Now, I'm not picky when it comes to skincare and cleansers but I do believe in investing in the good stuff. I think you really see a difference when you use higher end skincare with better ingredients. I actually got this cleanser a gratis from work and I really did enjoy it. I would use 2-3 pumps of it on my Clarisonic everyday and I feel like it cleared up my tiny little bumps around my chin. I am currently working through another cleanser at the moment because I do think its good to keep switching it up, but I would definitely repurchase.

NYX "Set it Don't Fret it" Matte Finishing Powder

I have a love/hate relationship with this powder. This powder comes in translucent, light, and medium. This specific one was in light and I used it to set my under eye concealer. So, when I used this day to day it looked great but when taking pictures with flash it would give me that dreaded stark white under eye and I've said before that I am not about that life. So unfortunately  I will not be buying this powder again. Womp Womp!

Mally Waterproof Volumizing Mascara

I'm, not big on volumizing mascara, so I didn't use this on myself, but I did use it for weddings. I just needed a waterproof mascara and I had gotten this for gratis. It did its job though so I would repurchase this for my kit.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

I absolutely adore this concealer. It is just perfect. It's creamy, easy to blend, and covers amazingly. I will repurchase this concealer until the day i die!

B&BW Twilight Woods Fragrance Mist

This is one of my favorite winter scents. It's warm and sexy and I love layering it with Victoria's Secret Angel body spray. Its my perfect combo.

Bare Minerals Multi-Wrinkle Repair

I really enjoyed this little baby sample. This is actually a treatment, like a serum, and I would use this before applying my moisturizer. I couldn't tell you if I saw a significant difference because I feel like with these little samples it's not enough to really see one but I did like it. It made my skin feel hydrated and smooth. the only downside I guess I would say is the scent. it has an organicy type of scent, if that makes any sense. I mean, its not offensive or anything I just didn't prefer it.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy

I seriously go through chapstick/lip balm like water. Especially now when it's so dry out. I do really like the Vaseline lip balms because I feel like they are thicker than most lip balms so they hydrate more and you don't have to reapply it as often.

NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this setting spray. For me a setting spray is crucial at the end of my makeup application and i was so impressed with this. I usually go for the Urban Decay All  Nighter setting spray and that is my holy grail but I can afford the $30 price tag. These, i think, are $11 and I buy them 2 at a time. It helps keep my makeup on and keeps me matte.

Well I hope you enjoyed going through my trash this month. Stay tuned for my next post on my monthly favorites!

Confidence Tip Tuesday! : Start Something ,Quit Something!

Start Something

This week I wanna talk about new beginnings, but not necessarily in some deep metaphorical way. How many times in life do we start things with the intention of making things happen for ourselves and then we give up on it for one reason or another? Because you think it's stupid or you don't feel like its good enough? In my life personally, I've done that a lot. I've said before that I'm an over-thinker. I'd think "What if no one likes it? What if I'm not good enough?" But now when I think back on it, just doing those things and sticking with them would have made me feel good regardless of what others thought. That's what this blog is for me! I've always wanted one and always would second guess myself. But I don't want to second guess myself anymore! Now that I've stuck with it ,even just for this month, makes me feel good about what I'm doing! I love Makeup!  I love talking about makeup! I love sharing my tips, tricks, and knowledge with people! I love letting people know about new products and exciting new collections! People might think that I'm weird because I get way too excited about makeup, but that's just me. That's what gets me excited, and I'm so proud of this blog. Even if no one ever sees it (although it would be nice if they did.lol) because it's mine. Its how I share my love for this stuff. So, I challenge you to stop second guessing yourself and start something for yourself. I know sometimes it's hard but the confidence you get from just starting something and sticking with it is so worth it.

Quit Something

I know we were just talking about starting something and now I'm telling you to quit something, but just hear me out. I'm talking about bad habits. Habits that are destructive to your happiness and to your health. This is important to me because I want to make a conscience effort to be happier, to achieve the goals I have set for myself, to be the woman I want to be in life and negative thoughts and attitudes are not going to get me there. Every day I have affirmations that I say to myself. Stay Positive, You are Enough, Trust Your Talent; Those are just a few of them and they do really help! They help me focus on my goals and help push out negative and overwhelming thoughts.

As for physical health, I am proud to say that I am officially 1 week cigarette free! Now that may not seem like a victory but trust me, it is. I've been smoking for 10 years and I honestly never thought I would quit. I was addicted, I loved everything about them and I know that sounds weird but cigarette smokers know what I mean. I didn't want to give them up. I wasn't ready to. I had no desire. I really just felt that it was time to stop. At this point, I'm really trying to make a change in my life. An allover change. I need it and I feel like this was something that I felt I needed to do. I can say that it hasn't been easy but just knowing that I'm doing it makes me proud.

So really, I guess the message for this week's Confidence Tip Tuesday is really doing things that make you proud of yourself. Set a goal and achieve it! Replace negativity with positive efforts.
There are always obstacles and personal struggles in our lives and it's our job and no one else's to fight through them and find ways to make ourselves happy.

Stay Naughty!;)
